The 3rd International Forum on Mechanical Safety Standards and Equipment Manufacturing Safety Production

The 3rd International Forum on Mechanical Safety Standards and Equipment Manufacturing Safety Production in 2009 was successfully held in Tianjin on September 26, 2009. This conference is another grand event after the successful hosting of the two international forums in 2005 and 2007. The conference is hosted by the State Administration of Work Safety and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products, and organized by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Mechanical Safety and the General Institute of Mechanical Science. The theme of this forum is "Responding to the EU's New Machinery Directive • Exploring Standardization and Countermeasures for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products • Enhancing Product Safety Level".

The conference attracted experts in the field of mechanical safety from countries such as Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Andrea Galassi, an expert from our European Certification Organization, was also invited to participate in the forum. Hundreds of experts, scholars, media, and business professionals in the field of mechanical safety also attended.

The new EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC will come into effect on December 29, 2009, without a transition period. And in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the new Machinery Directive, the European Organization for Standardization will also complete the revision of all Machinery Directive coordination standards by the end of June 2009. The new EU Machinery Directive has put forward new requirements in terms of the scope of the directive, basic safety and hygiene requirements, and conformity assessment procedures. These changes will have a significant impact on China's exports of mechanical and electrical products to Europe and the standardization of mechanical safety.

To this end, the State Administration of Work Safety and Chinese importers and exporters of mechanical and electrical products held this forum, and took the opportunity of the 14th annual meeting of ISO/TC199 held in Beijing to invite some experts involved in drafting EU directives to participate in this forum. The aim is to deepen the understanding of the new Machinery Directive among export enterprises through the forum, grasp its game rules, clarify the barriers that the new Machinery Directive poses to China's exports of mechanical and electrical products to Europe, and explore corresponding measures, striving to minimize the adverse impact of the Directive on China; At the same time, we will improve the safety standards of our country's machinery and the safety level of electromechanical products, and enhance the ability of enterprises to cope with technological barriers.

At the meeting, Andrea Galassi from our company gave a speech entitled "New Machinery Directive and CE Certification", mainly introducing the main changes in the implementation of the new Machinery Directive in the qualification assessment process, the impact of these changes on product qualification assessment, and the main ways for China's electromechanical products to pass CE certification. His speech received unanimous praise from the attendees.

The conference was successfully concluded with warm applause.
